How Montessori-at-Home Works

STEP 1: CONSULTATION

The process begins with an in-home consultation with the parents and other caregivers if desired. The initial assessment of the home environment will allow us to:

  • discuss family schedules and routines
  • establish goals and objectives
  • determine what areas of the home need to be redesigned
  • prioritize those areas based on the needs of the child and family

STEP 2: CREATING THE VISION

During this second visit we will visit each room of the house for an in-depth evaluation on how it can be redesigned to further your child’s independence and development while supporting the family’s structure and lifestyle. Based on the age and development of your child(ren), I endeavor to include them in the decision-making process as much as possible.

We will determine what materials and tools are needed to best serve the child and the desired outcomes. To ensure quality, I will personally order and receive these materials from reputable educational and Montessori companies.

STEP 3: SETTING UP THE HOME ENVIRONMENT

This visit is with the parent or caregiver only. The environment is set up before being re-introduced to the child. During our time together, we will discuss the correct use of the materials along with the philosophy behind each activity. Parent coaching and support is offered at this time.

STEP 4: INTRODUCING YOUR CHILD TO THE NEW ENVIRONMENT

Demonstrating new materials, their purpose, their use and their care to your child is critical to the success of the newly redesigned environment. The child is actively involved in this process and receives lessons and coaching based on Montessori principles and methodology.

STEP 5: ASSESSMENT OF NEW ENVIRONMENT

After a short period, generally two to three weeks, I will visit your home again to receive feedback and to determine if goals are being met. Any adjustments or improvements to the redesigned spaces and materials can be made at this time.

ON GOING SUPPORT AND COACHING

Because neither a child nor a home is static, parents often want additional support as their child grows and develops and the family’s needs and routines change. Montessori at Home is seen as a partnership, one that I hope will continue over many years. To this end, I offer additional services which include:

  • parent coaching
  • redesign of same spaces in the home
  • redesign of new spaces in the home
  • one-on-one Montessori lessons with your child

FEES:

CONSULTATION: $100

Fees are structured according to the following and are determined after the initial consultation:

  • the size of the home
  • the number and scope of spaces to be redesigned
  • the number of children in the family

*PLEASE NOTE: Fees do not include additional Montessori materials or other items purchased

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT AND COACHING IS OFFERED AT AN HOURLY RATE.
